Le Festival d’Hiver Franco de Calgary a de nouveau réuni la communauté
francophone les 13 et 14 mars 2026 au sein du site emblématique du Confluence,
pour une quatrième édition marquée par des découvertes culturelles, des échanges
enrichissants et des célébrations hivernales.
Les festivités ont été inaugurées le vendredi 13 mars par la deuxième édition de
l’incontournable Galala de Calgary, organisée en partenariat avec le Centre de
développement musical (CDM). Cette soirée d’inauguration, à la fois chaleureuse et
inspirante, a mis en avant de jeunes artistes provenant des établissements

francophones et d’immersion, présentant au public d’une centaine de participants
une vitrine dynamique de la nouvelle génération artistique francophone de Calgary.
Le samedi 14 mars, le festival a révélé toute son envergure grâce à une
programmation familiale et inclusive, attirant environ 700 festivaliers lors d'une
journée enneigée et froide, bien que le soleil ait brillé l’après-midi. Établi au
Confluence, un site empreint d’histoire et de mémoire, l’événement, fidèle à sa
mission de mise en valeur des diverses cultures qui composent la francophonie de
Calgary, a également permis de mettre en lumière tant l’héritage francophone en
Alberta que les liens profonds avec les cultures autochtones.
Tout au long de la journée, les festivaliers ont eu l’opportunité de bénéficier d'une
variété d’activités culturelles et récréatives, comprenant des ateliers interactifs et
créatifs destinés aux jeunes et aux enfants, ainsi que des activités extérieures
adaptées à la saison hivernale. Parmi les éléments essentiels, la célèbre tire
d'érable sur neige a, une fois de plus, su enchanter tant les jeunes que les moins
jeunes, dans une atmosphère conviviale et festive.
La programmation artistique a également revêtu une importance primordiale, se
manifestant à travers des performances d’artistes locaux s’inspirant des cultures
franco-albertaine, québécoise, africaine et autochtone. Parmi ces prestations
figurent Hakili Drum and Dance, Le Band History Wrangler avec Rob Lennard, les
danseurs culturels métis, Kyle Agapi et Nevada Ouelette, ainsi que le groupe le
Fuzz, illustrant ainsi la richesse et la diversité de la francophonie calgarienne et
albertaine.
Organisé par l’ACFA régionale de Calgary, en partenariat avec une trentaine
d’organisations communautaires et grâce à l’engagement exceptionnel de plus de
soixante bénévoles dévoués, le Festival d’Hiver Franco se distingue, année après
année, en tant qu’événement incontournable, à la fois rassembleur et fédérateur.
Cette édition 2026 a su réaffirmer sa fonction de carrefour culturel, en promouvant
les échanges, la convivialité et la transmission des traditions.
En rassemblant des familles, des artistes et des organismes autour d’une
programmation à la fois accessible et festive, le Festival d’Hiver Franco de Calgary
s’efforce de promouvoir la francophonie dans toute sa diversité.

The Calgary Franco Winter Festival once again brought together the Francophone
community on March 13 and 14, 2026, at the iconic Confluence site, for a fourth
edition marked by cultural discoveries, enriching exchanges, and winter celebrations.
The festivities were inaugurated on Friday, March 13, with the second edition of the
unmissable Calgary Galala, organized in partnership with the Musical development
Center (CDM). This inaugural evening, both warm and inspiring with approximately
100 people, showcased young artists from French-speaking and immersion schools,
presenting the public with a dynamic display of Calgary; new generation of
Francophone artists.
On Saturday, March 14, the festival showcased its full scale with a family-friendly
and inclusive program, attracting around 700 festival-goers on a cold and snowy day,
although the sun shone in the afternoon. Established at Confluence, a site steeped
in history and memory, the event, true to its mission of showcasing the diverse
cultures that make up Calgary Francophonie, also highlighted both the
Francophone heritage in Alberta and the deep connections with Indigenous cultures.
Throughout the day, festival-goers had the opportunity to enjoy a variety of cultural
and recreational activities, including interactive and creative workshops for young
people and children, as well as outdoor activities suited to the winter season. Among
the essential elements, the famous maple taffy on snow once again delighted both
young and old, in a friendly and festive atmosphere.
The artistic programming has also taken on paramount importance, manifesting thru
performances by local artists inspired by Franco-Albertan, Quebecois, African, and
Indigenous cultures. Among these performances are Hakili Drum and Dance, The
Band History Wrangler with Rob Lennard, the Métis cultural dancers, Kyle Agapi and

Nevada Ouelette, as well as the group le Fuzz, thus illustrating the richness and
diversity of Calgary and Alberta; Francophonie.
Organized by ACFA Regional of Calgary, in partnership with thirty community
organizations and thanks to the exceptional commitment of more than sixty
dedicated volunteers, the Franco Winter Festival stands out year after year as an
unmissable event, both unifying and federating. This 2026 edition has successfully
reaffirmed its role as a cultural crossroads, promoting exchanges, conviviality, and
the transmission of traditions.
By bringing together families, artists, and organizations around a program that is
both accessible and festive, the Calgary Winter Franco Festival strives to promote
Francophonie in all its diversity.
